Long ago, I made the decision to leave the comfort of my childhood home and head south. So I'm a bit out of place, but I think I have come to revel in being that little yin dot in the yang swirl.
I try to go with the flow of things. That's the budding Taoist in me.
An urban liberal living among suburban Wal-Mart conservatives. A young mother in a retirement haven. A nonswimmer in a beach town. And of course, a budding Taoist and lifelong Catholic living in the Bible belt.
We're having a lazy morning, watching the rain and wind outside. We're so far north that we're only getting the outer rain bands of Wilma. Things are good.
